Junebug Crochet
I have begun a new endeavor; selling baby hats on Etsy! My "shop name" is Junebug Crochet, here is a link. I have only just begun and still have a lot of work to do on the page and many more items to post. There is only one hat on there so far. I should have a few more hats and a few styles of booties in the coming weeks. I will be making a newborn hat and booties, along with a larger, cuter hat and mary jane booties set for our school auction, and that will hopefully get me a little advertising. I am excited to get this all underway and hopefully to get some orders!

OK, the reason for the lack of pictures, is that my computer is still not working! Not sure what we're going to do about that one yet... but Matt is graciously sharing his new laptop with me for the moment. Anyways, it's harder to find opportunities to do things like post pictures becuase it takes a while. So I am going to give you the links to the albums that I just posted on facebook.

Grace and San Fran!
Last weekend, our wonderful friend Grace came to visit!! We hadn't seen her since the beginning of last July, and have missed her so much! She was supposed to fly into San Fran on Saturday late morning, and we were going to head to Alcatraz and other hot spots, but her flight got changed to 1pm in San Jose, so we didn't have as much time as we had hoped. Alcatraz was out by that point (which was quite sad because I have never been there either... every time I am in SF, I am with people who have already been to Alcatraz and don't want to go!), but we still had a great time showing her Golden Gate, Ghirardelli Square, Lombard St, Fisherman's Wharf, and Pier 39 :).

On Sunday we drove halfway to Sacramento, where our friend, Melinda met us for lunch at a yummy thai place. We did some browsing together in World Market too, I could spend forever drooling in that place! I did find a few good deals tho: a new kitchen rug for $15, kitchen towels for $1.99, and a new bed for Samson for $9.99 (he chewed a big hole in his when he was at the kennel last).
Sunday we were going to go to Yosemite and see the pretty mountains, but we had a huge downpour, and that meant a big snow storm in the mountains, so we didn't want to risk it. Instead we listened to the rain, watched Gilmore Girls, and crocheted. It was a very cozy day :). We were sad to see Grace leave on Monday morning when we sent her off on the Amtrak; it was SO good to see her!

Little Rays of Sunshine
Today is the most beautiful, sunny day! Normally this in itself would not be cause for celebration where we live, but after the last 2 weeks of rain nearly every day, it certainly is! This is the first time the rain here has really bothered me; usually I know it won't last, so I don't mind, but I can tell I am already far too used to the abundant sunshine! I am sure you've all been hearing about the California storms and flooding, this past week, in particular. We really haven't been hit that hard compared to southern CA and many areas around LA, where entire streets and houses have been flooded. But we have had quite a few storms, with tons of rain and strong winds. One of those so much water, so fast times that the ground cannot absorb it fast enough and your yard becomes an instant pond! Aside from that and a lot of tree debris and a few fallen trees, the only "flooding" here has been our creek going through town. The creek that was so low that it didn't even have water going all the way across some parts of it a few weeks ago.... and now it is level with the walking/bike path that was previously several feet above it, and is moving quite swiftly.
Thank you Lord for the sun! And thank you for weekends!
I have been going a little stir crazy and feeling a little lethargic, not having been able to get outside or take Samson for walks lately. And Samson has been even more stir crazy with his pent-up energy... he was whining to get out this morning at 7:30. So first thing after waffles for breakfast, we headed out for a fabulous, lengthy, walk in the sun!
It seems every time I write on here I am telling you how crazy life has been lately; I don't know when I am going to realize that it is just never going to slow down and to hang on for the ride! Not this past week, but the 2 weeks prior, I was subbing every other day. That really does make things hectic for me, because I have to move around library times, squeeze in chances to stay up to date on inputting auction info, and often get library work done during preps from subbing. I just feel like I am always one step behind! And then I work more hours, get home exhausted, and have little energy to get things done at home. More hours and the income is good, but I am glad that this week was mostly back to normal.

Visitors and Visiting
Matt's mom and siblings arrived Wednesday afternoon (yes, you did your math right, we had a whole one day at home in between). We were so excited to see them since we hadn't since the end of July before we moved! We were quite sad that his dad couldn't come though, we will have to wait until summer to see him. We had a great time visiting, eating dinner, and opening more presents! Boy do I feel spoiled this year!
Thursday we headed down to Visalia where all of Matt's mom, Kathy's, family either lives or was in town, for his cousin Michael's wedding. We did a lot of hanging out and visiting and games with them. They do a polar bear swim in their pool every year, that was very fun to see! I ended up not doing it because I forgot my suit (unintentionally, but I wasn't that disappointed either...). We all went to Michael and Ally's wedding on Saturday night, which was very nice. We headed back Sunday morning and his fam stayed at our house for one more night before their flight out Monday morning. We had fun playing guitar hero with Josh and Amy; we don't often have enough people to play all the instruments.
Our time with them seemed far too short, partially because most of it was with bunch of people and not just them. So we are extra excited for the summer when they will make a trip out here and we will make a trip out there... 2 visits with more concentrated time together :). We feel like we already have too many plans for summer, and we have yet to figure out what we are going to do for work!

Christmas in Seattle
We had a wonderful week+ in the Seattle area with my family over Christmas. We drove about 4.5 hours to Redding, CA on Fri the 18th, then the remaining 9-10 hours on Saturday the 19th. We went straight to Jordan and Al's to see them and Evangeline. Sunday night we went to my old high school friend, John, and his wife, Tash's house for dinner and games. We always enjoy hanging out with them and they are always teaching us fun new games! It's really too bad we don't live closer.
Monday I visited with a couple of friends during the day, and then we had DeKoekkoek cookie baking in the afternoon. My friend Christina joined us too, of course. My parents have pretty much adopted her and her husband Dan and they came to all of our Christmas festivities and family things (they went with my parents at Thanksgiving too). Cookie baking was fun, and so were the breaks to play with my wonderful nieces and get to see everything that they're learning and doing now.
Tuesday I watched Evangeline in the morning for my mom (who usually watches her). We took Samson for a walk and got to watch the construction and diggers in the park behind my parents house. Evangeline is getting much better with saying my name too. Although she says Matt's name FAR more, I know she really loves him, but I think she also just likes saying his name because it's easy :-P.
Friday afternoon, Christina came with me so I could FINALLY see New Moon! I was glad to have seen it, it was better than the first one, and I did enjoy it, but it was still a cheesy teenage movie. I honestly really love the books, but the movie Bella is so different from, and doesn't measure up to the book Bella, that I have a hard time not being annoyed by her in the movie, ha ha. I have been having this problem more and more with books and movies. I reread the first 2 books beforehand, but then I have them too fresh in my mind for comparisons with the movie. Oh well.
That night we went out on my parents boat to see the Christmas ships. Some of the local cruise ships (that go for a couple hours around the Seattle area) get all decked out with lights and decorations and then cruise on over and stop near a few different beaches to sing Christmas carols. A whole bunch of other people in normal boats, like us, also put lights on and follow them around. It sort of looks like a little parade, and it's pretty to be in it, or to be on the beach watching it all.
Wednesday night we went to the botanical gardens in Bellevue, with Natasha. They make all these plant shaped things out of bundles of lights. So it will look like fields of flowers and grapes and butterflies and all kinds of things in lights. I'll get pictures on here at some point of those, for sure.
Thursday was Christmas Eve and we had the Bantas (my mom's fam) over that night. I hadn't been in Seattle for real Christmas since we've been married, and Matt hasn't at all, so this was a lot of fun! It was so great to see everyone, many of whom I hadn't seen since our wedding! As usual, my uncle played guitar and grandpa played his mandolin.
Christmas day was a very good day too. It was a little weird to do our stockings and presents at my parents, but not too bad. We stopped by to see the DeKoekkoek's (my dad's fam) before the rest of my siblings came over. THere is just never enough time to see all my family when we visit! The rest of the day was just presents, dinner, and hanging out, but very valued family time. And of course, more auntie time! I just love how much the girls can play back with you now. Especially how much Lucca will interact with us now and how chatty she is with her sweet voice :).
Saturday night we spent downtown with Dan and Christina. It was cool to be able to see them a lot intermixed with my family, and then some of just us too. I love it that they live in Seattle :).
We drove back home on Monday in one long shot, left around 6 and got home around 8. That was probably one of the fastest moving weeks of my life! It just zoomed by!

Home Sweet Home
I am going to attempt to catch up on here, but there aren't going to be any pictures yet because my computer is having problems :(. Please pray that we get it figured out, because I need it for work right now too, and it's only 2.5 years old, it can't die yet! (I am on Matt's computer right now, fortunately, he just got a new laptop with his last year's grad money. But I really still need mine too, at least for the next couple months of auction work).
Anyways, it's back to work this week! After a very full and busy break (I'll return to that later), it was a hard adjustment returning to school and subbing the last 2 days. I will be back in the library Wed and Thurs, which is good, because I have a bunch of auction stuff to get out by the end of the week, and library classes that have all moved around to fit in less days! And I am subbing Friday too, whew! Matt is adjusting better than me, but he is getting sick and has been tired from that. I really need to get some more airborne to help keep us healthy.
We are very glad to be back home, however, and to have Samson back with us too. He was at the kennel all weekend while we were in Visalia, and we missed him! There is quite a bit to do around here, but I think we need a couple days to recover first. I have yet to take down our Christmas decorations and tree, there's laundry piling up, cleaning to be done, errands to be run, and our bedroom to be painted... it may be a busy weekend of household duties.
All of this traveling has also not helped our church hunt, as we missed another 3 Sundays from that. But we'll be back at it this week.
We have some very exciting news, our friend Grace is coming for a visit!! She just booked a flight for Sat Jan 16 through Tues Jan 19. She flies into San Fran, so we're going to meet her and hangout in the city for the day :). We've been dying to get over there anyways. And we even have Monday off for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We can't wait!!
